Frequently Asked Questions About Our ABA Therapy
What is ABA therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a type of therapy that focuses on understanding and improving how people learn and behave. It works by changing the surroundings or environment to encourage positive behavior. ABA therapy helps develop skills such as social interaction, reading, communication, academics, and daily life tasks like grooming, hygiene, and fine motor abilities.
Is an autism diagnosis required to enroll in ABA therapy?
An autism diagnosis is not necessary to start ABA therapy, but it is often needed to use insurance benefits. While Wellspring Learning Center does not provide diagnostic evaluations, we can refer you to a reliable provider who can help with that.
What can I expect during ABA therapy?
At Falcon ABA Care, we offer both comprehensive and focused ABA therapy programs. Each program is customized to meet your child’s specific needs and can range from 10 to 40 hours a week.
The amount of therapy and the level of parent involvement may vary. Programs that include discrete trial training and natural environment training may require several hours of therapy each day. The aim is to create learning opportunities through play, allowing therapists to guide, shape, and reinforce positive behaviors.
Parents will need to attend bi-weekly family meetings and occasional training sessions to help apply the skills learned in ABA therapy to everyday life. These sessions will also teach you how to better support your child at home and in other settings.
What ABA techniques do you use?
We use different ABA therapy techniques to help your child learn new skills and behaviors. Some of the methods we use include shaping (gradually teaching a behavior), token economy (using rewards to encourage good behavior), discrete trial training (DTT) (breaking down skills into smaller steps), natural environment training (NET) (teaching in everyday settings), functional communication training (helping your child communicate needs), prompting (giving hints to help with learning), and fading (slowly reducing support as skills improve).
Can I change or cancel my order?
Mollis pretium lorem primis senectus habitasse lectus scelerisque donec, ultricies tortor suspendisse adipiscing fusce morbi volutpat pellentesque, consectetur mi risus molestie curae malesuada cum. Dignissim lacus convallis massa mauris enim ad mattis magnis senectus montes.
Do you punish children for problem behaviors?
Although punishment is a principle of ABA, we do not use it in our ABA programs at Falcon ABA Care. Instead, we focus on positive reinforcement and differential reinforcement. Positive reinforcement rewards children for displaying positive behaviors, while differential reinforcement involves withholding praise or rewards for unwanted behaviors and giving praise for positive behaviors.
How is positive reinforcement used in ABA?
Positive reinforcement is a key strategy in ABA therapy. When a behavior is followed by something the child enjoys or values (a reward), they are more likely to repeat that behavior. Over time, this helps encourage positive changes in behavior.
It’s important to remember that what one child values or prefers may not be the same for another. A reward is only effective if it increases the chances of the behavior happening again in the future.
What do you mean by elevated ABA therapy?
When we talk about elevated ABA therapy, we mean we’re raising the bar for traditional ABA therapy services. Our goal is to offer the most compassionate and professional care, helping your child reach their personal goals.
We started by building a strong, professional foundation to attract the best clinical talent. Then, we designed our centers to create the ideal ABA experience, equipping them with high-quality furniture and play areas. Lastly, we are committed to partnering with parents to extend the benefits of ABA beyond the walls of our center. This is how we take ABA therapy to the next level.
